Frequently asked questions

Can you treat me if I have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been diagnosed with COVID-19?

Sorry, but treatment cannot be given if you have any COVID-19 symptoms or have been diagnosed with COVID-19.  Please visit the NHS website for further help.

Will it hurt?

Some treatments may cause mild discomfort whilst they are being carried out. You will be advised what to expect and will be asked to advise us if you are in pain.  You may feel a little stiff or sore for about 24 hours after treatment. This is a normal and a healthy response to the treatment.

What should I wear?

As with any medical examination, you will probably be asked to dress-down to your underwear, so please wear something you are comfortable in.  You can wear shorts and vest top providing they are not too restrictive.

Can I bring a friend or relative?
Yes, of course you can have someone present throughout your consultation and treatment.

Do I need to see my doctor first?
You do not need to see your doctor first if you are paying for your own treatment. However, some insurance companies require you to see your doctor first.  Osteopathy is available on the NHS in some areas – and national guidelines say it should be available everywhere for low back pain.

How much does treatment cost?
The first consultation will last about an hour and will cost £80.00.  Subsequent treatments last 30 minutes and cost £50.00. If laser treatment is included in follow-up treatments
the cost will be £57.00.

How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments you need depends on the condition and person we are treating. We aim to keep your appointments to a minimum. Your osteopath will be able to tell you within a short period of time whether they can treat you or if they need to refer you to someone else.
